David Griffiths worked as a teacher and lecturer in History and Politics for 36 years. He developed an early interest in the First World War when he discovered that his grandfather had enlisted in 1915 at the age of just 16 years old. An active member of the Western Front Association, he has served as Chairman of the Cambridgeshire Branch and contributed to its Journal, ‘Stand To’. He holds an MA in ‘Britain and the First World War’ from the University of Wolverhampton where he first began to research the history of the Guards Division; the genesis of this book.
Dr. Spencer Jones lectures at the Centre for First World War Studies at the University of Birmingham and at the History, Politics & War Studies department at the University of Wolverhampton. His previous publications include From Boer War to World War: Tactical Reform of the British Army 1902-1914, as well as numerous scholarly articles.
