Jaap R. Bruijn (1938) in 2004 became emeritus professor of maritime history at Leiden University. He has published numerous books and articles on a variety of topics including the early modern Dutch Navy, shipping and commanders of the Dutch East India Company, and 20th century Dutch whaling.
Rolof van Hövell tot Westerflier earned a LLM degree and a MA degree from the University of Leiden. He also received a degree in comparative law (MCL) from Columbia University. He has spent the last forty years practicing law in The Netherlands Antilles, Rotterdam and Jakarta. Driven by his lifelong passion for history, he founded Karwansaray Publishers in 2007, a company dedicated to promoting and sharing a multi-faceted view of history that crosses cultural and political boundaries.
Ronald Prud'homme van Reine (1960) is a historian. His doctoral dissertation (1990) was biography, Jan Hendrik van Kinsbergen (1735-1819): Admiraal en filantroop. He subsequently went on to publish more biographies of naval heroes and general works on naval history.
