Eirene S. Allen
Eirene Allen holds a PhD from New York University and is the director of the Institute for Classics Education, a US-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting teachers and learners of Homer and ancient Greek texts in English translation, for which she teaches seminars on the Iliad and Odyssey as well as courses on women in Greek and Roman myths. Her published works include study guides for Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, Hesiod’s Works and Days, Apollonius of Rhodes’ Argonautica, Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War, and Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations, as well as numerous plays of Sophocles and Euripides and dialogues of Plato. She edited and wrote the introduction for the collection Achilles the Hero (Flame Tree 2023). Her family’s roots lie in Chios, Greece, where she spends part of each year. She lives with her family in Connecticut.
