John Harding-Edgar
The author is a four-times great nephew of Sir George Murray. After ten years working overseas in Trade Finance, he returned to live in his native Edinburgh and built on his Law degree from Aberdeen University to pursue a career as a Corporate Lawyer. On retirement he began researching the well documented history of the Murrays of Ochtertyre, which soon led to a more detailed examination of the substantial Murray Archive in the National Library of Scotland, comprising Murray's personal and military papers. Brought up with the oft repeated family maxim that Murray was Wellington’s closest friend, the temptation to ascertain the truth of this led to the writing of this book. John lives in Edinburgh with his wife Jennifer, and has three grown up daughters. This is his first published work.
