Oksana Melnyk

Oksana Melnyk is a Ukrainian writer and public intellectual. Oksana grew up in a family of teachers in the small town of Kamin-Kashyrskyi in the Volyn region (western Ukraine). In the twentieth century, part of Oksana's family wing was repressed and deported to Russian Siberia for their active participation in the national liberation movement as part of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. The Soviet authorities deprived the family of the right to live in the homeland even after the end of the special settlement period.

Oksana received a master's degree in journalism from the National Aviation University, Kyiv in 2015. She started her career in this profession in 2013-2014 during the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine. In 2015-2016, she worked on the column "Diary of a Soldier" based on the testimonies of Ukrainian soldiers during the anti-terrorist operation in Eastern Ukraine.
From 2018 to 2022, she worked in the field of media analysis and political strategy development.

Since 2022, she has been cooperating with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine as an expert in communication and institution building. At the same time, in 2022 she resumed her work with the military and started her own book project "First-Hand Accounts from the Ukrainian Frontline".

Oksana lives in Kyiv and is working on continuing this series of stories.
